Press Release PALFINGER North America has introduced to the North American marketplace, the latest in their CR Series of forklifts. The CR 55 4-way forklift was launched to the North American market during Pafingers’ North American Dealer Sales Conference in May. The CR 55 4-way allows operators to deliver building materials such as scaffolding, lumber or wallboard over rugged terrain and through crowded work sites by turning all wheels sideways. The product can be off-loaded exactly where it is needed which helps reduce product damage, physical strain and product re-handling. The new CR 55 4-way unit offers a lift capacity up to 5500 lbs. It has the shortest truck-mount overhang per model in the industry making it easier and safer to transport. The center seat positioning gives the operator easier on-and-off access, a more stable feel and a much better view for judging load centers or mounting the truck. The assembly of the CR 55 4-way units will begin in September 2007 at the Crayler forklift assembly plant in Tiffin,Ohio. The idea: Families who are moving from house to house want a practical and reliable solution for transporting their possessions. Moving should not be a headache and cost a fortune. The solution: The customers are provided with “Smart Vaults”, a robust, large-capacity plastic container delivered to their house. The house contents are packed in the Smart Vault and are locked by the customer. A second numbered locking seal is added by the transport company to further ensure unauthorized access. The freight is then collected and transported as quickly as possible to its destination. In addition, each Smart Vault is equipped with GPS and on its way to the new address can be tracked by the customer via a website. Chris Sapyta’s first strategic Smart Move: He partnered with a proven, innovative, transport company.“Overnite Transportation”, a nationwide transport company with 227 locations is well established in the USA. Second strategic Smart Move: Partnering with PALFINGER CRAYLER thru 30 CRAYLER CR 55 truck mounted forklifts. The CR 55 is used to deliver the Smart Vaults to the house. When packed and locked, the CR 55 picks up the Smart Vault from the house and loads it on the trailer. The CRAYLER model CR 55’s have been reliably carrying out their duties for a short time now. On arrival, they are ready for operation within a minute and position the Smart Vaults exactly where the customer wants them. Difficult ground conditions are not a factor because the all-wheel-drive CR 55 overcomes any terrain with its 31-inch wheels. Driven by a powerful 64-hp air-cooled 4-cylinder diesel engine, the CR 55 then effortlessly lifts the containers back onto the truck. During the journey the rear-mounted CRAYLER’s are totally protected from the worst weather conditions, stone impact and dirt by their KTL paintwork, which is similar to automotive painting (KTL = cathotic dip painting). The performance of PALFINGER is also strong in terms of service and training! The CRAYLER team produced an exclusive training video especially for Smart Move and Overnite Transportation. What’s more, as part of the partnership, the employees at 30 (!) locations in the USA were trained how to use the CR 55 correctly - within just two weeks. And the success achieved shows that the right decision was taken by all involved. At the end of this year the CRAYLER fleet is to be expanded with the addition of another fifteen units in order to be able to cope with the numerous customer enquiries! |
